Contraindications

  • fever

  • infectious diseases

  • acute inflammation

  • cancer (in the case of benign tumors or terminal stages, only with medical approval)

  • recent trauma, post-surgery (4–6 weeks)

  • open wound

  • untreated high blood pressure

  • varicose veins (treatment of the affected limb is contraindicated)

  • advanced osteoporosis

  • thrombosis or risk of thrombosis

  • pregnancy – not a general exclusion, only certain periods and body areas are contraindicated (requires medical approval and personal consultation)

  • menstruation (massage, cupping, and infrared sauna increase circulation, which can intensify bleeding, but their pain-relieving and antispasmodic effects can ease menstrual discomfort, so treatments require individual consideration and decision)

  • individuals who are incapacitated, under the influence of alcohol or drugs

For lymphatic massage, in addition to the above:

  • kidney failure (requires medical approval)

  • hyperthyroidism (lymphatic massage may worsen symptoms, though not in all cases; the guest decides whether to proceed)

  • abdominal hernia – abdominal massage is prohibited, but other areas can be treated

  • chronic enteritis (may exacerbate symptoms)

  • chronic pelvic inflammation (may exacerbate symptoms)

For cupping, in addition to the general contraindications:

  • prohibited on the head and face (except with cosmetic devices)

  • prohibited on the abdomen and chest during pregnancy

  • bleeding disorders (only cupping is prohibited)

  • diabetes (since it lowers blood sugar levels, cupping is prohibited, BUT massage is not contraindicated!)

  • if traces of moxibustion or previous cupping are still present

  • skin injuries, pigmented moles, blisters, ulcers, chapped dry skin

  • moist eczema
